2018 Lexus LS 500h Hybrid Powertrain

The powertrain of the 2018 Lexus LS 500h combines a 3.5-liter V6 Dual VVT-i gas engine with two electric motors and a lithium-ion hybrid battery pack. This battery pack is 20 percent smaller than the nickle-metal hydride battery in the current Lexus LS 600h, but offers more power even with the compact space.

Between the engine and the electric motors, the 2018 Lexus LS 500h offer up to 354 horsepower. This power is extremely responsive thanks to a new four-stages shifting device in the new Multi Stage Hybrid System. This vehicle should offer a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of just 5.4 seconds.

Driving Advantages of the Lexus LS 500h

The 2018 Lexus LS 500h comes with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) which offers direct and continuous acceleration. This transmission also enjoys a responsive and adaptive intelligence that will adapt vehicle response to changing road conditions and driver handling (for example when going up or down hills). This means that drivers can enjoy the responsiveness of selectable driving modes without actually needing to make a selection.

This hybrid will also offer an M mode where drivers can select and hold gears manually using paddles shifters on the steering wheel. This is the first time this feature has been available on a Lexus hybrid.

It will probably be a few years before the 2018 Lexus LS 500h is available in pre-owned inventory here at Certified Autoplex, but luxury shoppers interested in the Lexus CT 200h hatchback or the Lexus ES 300h sedan can find several options in our inventory near Dallas TX.
