Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot

Registration is officially open for the 49th Annual Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving day – Thursday, November 24. There is an eight mile course as well as a 5K, but the cost is the same regardless of which one you choose to participate in. For those with younger children, there is a ‘Tot Trot’ option to register them in the race at a reduced cost. The race starts promptly at 9 a.m., but participants are asked to arrive no later than 8 a.m. to get settled in.
Great Turkey Skate
Allen Community Ice Rink
Get the entire family together Saturday, November 26 for the 5th Annual Great Turkey Skate from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Allen Event Center. The cost is $5 to enter and $3 for skate rentals. However, if you bring a nonperishable item your skate rental will be free. There will be a variety of Thanksgiving-themed, on-ice games and activities. We know you won’t want to miss out on a classic game of turkey bowling. However if you’re on the ice, you’ll have to wear skates.

Historic Downtown McKinney
Following Thanksgiving, join everyone in downtown McKinney for a fun-filled weekend spreading holiday cheer. Friday, November 25 and Saturday, November 26 the festival will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 27 events will go from 12 to 5 p.m. This is a great way to kick off your Christmas celebration with tons of family activities, entertainment, food and shopping. You won’t want to miss the tree lighting on Friday night at 6:15 p.m. with Candlelight Shopping to follow until 8 p.m. Free parking is available throughout downtown McKinney.
