Our team here at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.certifiedautoplex.com\/\">Certified Autoplex<\/a> is going to share the top five common reasons your car won\u2019t start to give you a better idea of what the issue could be before you head to a mechanic.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Chances are there\u2019s something wrong with the vehicle that needs to be fixed. However, there is a slight chance that the issue is simply human error and can be fixed without going to the shop. It\u2019s always a good idea to go down the checklist and make sure it\u2019s not something you can fix on your own. Check out some common human errors below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Be sure to fasten your seat belt; some new cars won\u2019t start until you\u2019re buckled up.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Automatic vehicles must be in park to start, so adjust accordingly if needed.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Manual drivers should make sure the clutch is pressed in far enough.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Check your gas tank &#8211; low fuel levels could be causing issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Why won\u2019t my car start?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Dead Battery &#8211;<\/strong> If there is absolutely no reaction when you turn the key, there\u2019s a good chance the battery is dead. The battery is what supplies power to everything electrical including lights, radio, heat and headlights, and it could be dead from leaving one of these things on overnight. A quick jump-start should get you where you need to be in order to purchase and install a new battery.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bad Starter &#8211;<\/strong> Sometimes the issue actually lies in the starter and not the battery. This could be the case if you hear a clicking noise as the vehicle tries to turn over. It can either be a loose connection or a faulty starter altogether. A jump-start should still get the vehicle started temporarily until it can be fixed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bad Ignition Switch &#8211;<\/strong> The ignition switch works by signaling the battery to start the engine. If this part is starting to go bad, there won\u2019t be as good of a connection, which can ultimate result in the vehicle not starting. Dashboard light issues could be a sign of a bad ignition switch.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fuel Pump Issues &#8211;<\/strong> Lack of pressure in the fuel lines can result in the fuel pump not being able to deliver gas to the engine. This could be from regular wear and tear, blockage or part failure. If you let your tank run empty, this could increase the chances of an issue down the road.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Faulty Spark Plug &#8211;<\/strong> This would be the most ideal situation because spark plugs are simple and cheap to replace.
